Yes, but does it carry ammo with panache?
Of late, I've adopted the habit of taking plebeian public transport to work at least 10 times per month instead of my upscale sedan. Though this method involves a roundabout route via train and bus and adds considerably to the travel time, I don't have to navigate the vicious LA commute traffic, and have much more cherished reading time. I can maybe finish two books a week, and perhaps start a third. So, you might ask, in what do I carry those books?

My old canvas satchel, sporting the logo of my previous employer that callously downsized me, was getting shabby after 6 years of loyal use. This 2-POCKET SHOULDER BAG seemed perfect, especially as the black version would go well with my nylon lunch bag of the same color, and the burden of the two combined wouldn't be so unwieldy as to be easily caught in the closing doors of the subway train. (I hate it when that happens!) And "military style" had a nice ring. Perhaps my resultant Tough Guy image would deter muggers and panhandlers. The ambiguous "unisex" attribute has me worried, though. Does this man I might not be a Real Man?

In retrospect, I should probably have gotten something a tad larger. This bag is suitable for one hardback or two trashy paperbacks. And the dual outside pockets are perfect for the wallet and work ID badge. However, anything more than that - a rare occurrence because I pack light - and it just won't do. Moreover, since the edges aren't reinforced, it can be sloppily floppy in an uncool sort of way. (I hate not being SoCal Cool!) Moreover, the buckled flap, rather than incorporating some sort of quick release closure, is unhandy. On the plus side, the workmanship and material seem sturdy enough, and I wouldn't expect it to show filth easily unless I miss the last train home and have to spend the night in a dumpster.

It remains to be seen whether or not the bag will carry ammo. Of course, I'll have to buy the firearm of choice first. But I wonder if the LA Metro transit cops would be amused. You think?
